Departure of The Borealis by chvacher Departure of The Borealis by chvacher
In a "steam-punk", Jules Verne-like environment, a massive flying ship awaits departure in a futuristic Victorian train station (inspired by the museum of D'Orsay in Paris).

I'm not that into steam-punk or Jules Verne but there is just something about this I love. I think it's the colors a composition combined with the massive scale.

A wonderful counter balance of culture and technology. Early industrial society conveyed against technology yet to exist.

Delicious panting! I love everything in this picture :D From the wonderful landscape outside to the victorian clothes to the gorgeous machine with its art noveau features! Amazing!!

A totally delicious integration of an art-deco "streamline" locomotive nose --with 70s-era intestinal-style underparts-- into a gigantic Beaux Arts environment.
With a seeming French-style nature scene out back to top it off.
Bonus points for the pallet on the machine and clever shadow work as well.
